It has been one of the wettest Augusts on record. The result is that the flowers have not only lasted longer but are about 2-3 weeks behind last year. I've never known the garden still so green and fresh for September.

Dahlias, cannas and hibiscus on the belvedere taken from the top slope |
Busy lizzies and nasturtiums around the main lawn |
This is a part of the garden I tend not to photograph. We had too many busy lizzies this year so planted the spares in the woodland. Perfect shady conditions for busy lizzies! |
The part of the slope had looked bare in previous years but is now filling up well. |
Towards the bog garden and the huge guneras |
Where I sit in the evening to listen to the Archers! |
At the very bottom of the garden, adjoining the Greensands Way public footpath, we planted loads of bare rooted trees in 2000. Just starting to look the part! |
Because we pruned the vines on the pergola, we've got grapes for the first time. |
September IS Cannas month. A superb example, if I might say! |
