22nd Oct 05 - Silver Howe
What was expected to be a very wet day turned out just overcast. We started at Grasmere and climbed Lang Howe and Silver Howe before a glorious ridge walk with wonderful views of Elterwater, Windermere, the Langdales and, of course, Grasmere. About 5 miles/1300ft.
From Allen Bank. William Wordsworth's home until 1808. |
As we climbed, this was the view backwards over Grasmere village |
Lang Howe tarn. Every time we have climbed here before we have missed this important turning point |
