1st August 05 - Ammassalik, Greenland
Ammassalik is a small settlement on
the east coast of Greenland. No roads anywhere and icebound most of the year -
it's boat, sledge or helicopter if you want to go anywhere. They only get a
couple of cruise ships each year too!
The entry to the bay is exciting as you are surrounded by icebergs even in
August.
We then went on a c4 mile walk along the Valley of the Flowers to a series of
lakes and waterfalls.

The houses in the town were painted in bright colours |
We walked through the Valley of Flowers...aptly named! |
The town's graveyard could not have been in a more tranquil spot |
After the graveyard we made our way along a series of lakes, where the locals were fishing, to the waterfalls. |
