23rd Oct 17 - Lima Day 1
Lima, with its 10m inhabitants, has horrendous traffic. As we had visited before (see http://www.richardholway.com/B233%20Lima%2011th%20May%2015.htm ) we went on a tour called 'Colonial Lima'.
Plaza de Armas |
Presidential Palace and Cathedral in Plaza Major |
Plaza St Martine |
One of Lima's markets |
'Keep off the Grass' |
We were taken on a special visit to Casa Aliaga - South America's best preserved colonial mansion, which has been occupied by the same family since 1535. Indeed is still occupied today |
The Church of the Jesuit Convent of San Pedro |
San Marcos University. Lovely cloisters full of flowers. They put on these actors in vintage dress for us! |
Elizabeth waiting for the bus. |
We thought this cat was stuck in the railings. But the guards said it slept there everyday! |
