26th Dec 16 - Santo Tomas, Guatemala
A new day - a new country. We traveled to meet a boat which took us across the Lake Itzabal to start our 'eco hike' at Hacienda Tijax.

| A boat took us across the lake stopping at 'Bird Island' on the way |
| Three cormorants |
| Egrett |
| Blue Heron |
| Start of our hike. It was a very hot and humid day |
| Our guide pointed out the lush vegetation in the rainforset |
| She said this was called the Dog's Bollocks. Who am I to disagree! |
| This is the flower of the Sapod tree |
| We climbed and climbed to reach the watch tower. As you can see from the man in front, by this time our clothes were soaked with sweat! |
| Fantastic view from the top. The lake goes into the River Dulce which goes all the way to the Carribean. |
| The way back down involved these long and VERY WOBBLY bridges high above the ground looking down on the tree canopy. Must admit I didn't like them at all! |
| Probably the best day so far - certainly the most energetic! |
