4th-5th Nov 11 - Overnight from Haifa to Jerusalem
Ashdod was being shelled by rockets so we
had to go to Jerusalem from Haifa. Overnight in the King David Hotel. Then on to
Caesaria, Nahalai and back to Haifa.
It was a really memorable trip on a trip led by Etti and in the great company of
Jim, Vicky, Joyce, Howard, Bill & Judy.
In the recently opened Holocaust museum. Of course, very moving. But the architecture is stunning. |
Views from the Mount of Olives overlooking Jerusalem. Here you see the Jewish Cemetery with the Muslim Cemetery closest to the walls of Jerusalem. |

Inside the Church of the Holy Sepulcher which marks the site of Jesus' crucifixion, burial and resurrection. |
Here is the place where Jesus was crucified. The church was packed with chanting priests and worshippers of every description. They all queued to kiss the stone of Golgotha. |
There was a two hour wait to enter the Christ's tomb |
Perhaps the high spot of the whole visit was the Wailing Wall. The most holy of all places for Jews - the oldest part of the walls of Jerusalem. We just happened to arrive at sunset as the Sabbath started. A very holy time. The area was crowded with singing, chanting Jewish people. We donned a yarmulke and went with them to the Wall. It was an amazing experience. |
