12th Aug 11 - Hammerfest, Norway

Went for a walk through the town and up the zigzag to the Sami house.

Hammerfest was destroyed by the Germans at the end of WW11 - so everything is 'new'. Many 'strange' monuments. This is the "Gateway to the Arctic" sculpture.

Here the 'Music Pavilion' which 'represents the pinnacle of architecture in Hammerfest" So there you have it!

We went to a Sami house. The Samis look after the reindeer. We were told stories and sang songs... Another high point...
