17th-18th Dec 10 - Iguazu Falls
Flew from Buenos Aires to Iguazu (about 800 miles) for a visit to the famous falls and overnight stay.
The view from our balcony at the Sheraton. The top one over the pool and the lower one with a 12x zoom and our first sight of the falls which you could hear thundering in the distance |
There are three trails on the Argentine side. The Devil's Throat, Superior and Inferior. |
You take a little train to the start of the 2km Devil's Throat walk. |
Lots of wildlife as you might expect in a rain forest. The butterflies were attracted to the salt from the evaporating puddles. |
Over many bridges and catwalks you get to the very edge of the biggest waterfall - The Devil's Throat |
Thundering and the possibility of getting very wet |
The Superior walk was the best - taking in more waterfalls than you could count. The sun came out and gave us a wonderful rainbow! WOW! |
A lizard clinging to the side of one of the waterfalls |
Just some of the most amazing sights I have ever seen |
The following day we did the Lower or ' Inferior' route. This involved climbing down closer to the river level. |
Crossing lots of bridges |
More wonderful vistas |
The 'Two Sisters' |
This time we really did get very wet! |
But with views like this, it was really worth it |
