13th June 10 - Constanta, Romania/14th June 10 - Odessa, Ukraine
Another short sail to Constanta. Not the world's most attractive place. We went around the museum, Roman mosaics and the beach resort. Very pleased to get back on the ship!
Following day we visited Odessa in Ukraine - a much more agreeable place!
13th June 10 - Constanta, Romania |
A Glykon (serpent) - only one in the world apparently! |
Beach at Mamaia. Has 1.5m tourists in the summer - almost all Romanians. Avoid. |
14th June 10 - Odessa, Ukraine |
First a visit to the Art Museum which Elizabeth loved |
The Opera House |
I still get bemused to see old women set about hard labour in the streets |
Uspensky Cathedral - still being constructed |
Primorsky Boulevard - one of many lovely long tree-lined pedestrian streets |
The Duke of Richelieu |
The Potemkin Steps. I really enjoyed the book (and film) about the Battleship Potemkin and the workers uprising of 1905 which was a precursor for the Russian Revolution. |
