9th May 03 - Orrest Head and Robin Lane (again!)
OK, so we have done it before. But it is my favorite
walk anyway. Taxi to the start at Windermere Station then the climb to Orrest
Head (where Wainwright first fell in love with the Lake District). Then
fantastic 8-miler through Troutbeck (for a cup of tea at the Post Office) and
along Robin Lane with its views of Windermere and the crags and fells
beyond.
Then a stroll through the NT Stagshaw Gardens to Waterhead Pier to catch Swan to
take us back to Bowness.
