One of those wonderful Lakeland days with brilliant sun, blue skies...but an icy breeze! Nowhere better on earth. So we did "One of the Best". Up Gummer's How for the best views of Windermere, then through Birch Fell Plantation (severely damaged by the storms in Jan), to Sow How farm and its new born lambs, to Sow How Tarn, then up Cartmel Fell with its glorious views of Morecambe Bay.
6+ miles? Anyway, glorious.

From Gummer's How overlooking Lakeside - the end of Windermere where the steamers start (or end..)
Days and views don't come any better. Sorry about the hat though.
So many of the forests were very badly affected by the January storms. Our path was blocked many times.
