6th October 2007 - The Hundreds

Fantastic sunny day.
Started in Ambleside and climbed up Wansfell (around 1600ft). Then a long walk along the top which is called The Hundreds. Then back along The Hundreds Road - which is a wonderful drovers road - all the way down to Robin Lane and the well trodden route back past High Skelghyll and Skelghyll Woods to Ambleside.

About 8 miles I would guess

On the way up Wansfell looking over Ambleside
 Wansfell summit in view
At the top on Wansfell in the sun
Following the wonderful wall from the top of Wansfell across the Hundreds
Across the Hundreds and that view of Windermere
On The Hundreds
My favourite curvy path up to High Skelghyll
That view of Windermere as the path enters Skelghyll Woods.
BTW - We last did this walk in Aug 04. Click here
The new development in the heart of Bowness has opened. Costa Coffee comes to the Lakes! Not overly sure that is progress though. But the adjoining Tesco is certainly useful as our nearest shop.
