24th Mar 07 - Alcock Tarn, Fairfield and Stone Arthur

A glorious day so we decided to go high... and I mean HIGH!
We started at Grasmere and climbed (and climbed some more) to Alcock Tarn and then climbed (and climbed some more) to reach Fairfield where we climbed (and climbed some more) to reach Heron Pike and Great Rigg (2200ft).
The views were just magical. The photos do not do them real justice as the sun was so bright and there was a bit of a haze!

The route map should anyone be tempted to retrace our footsteps.
BTW, it took us 5 hours and I reckon it was about 6 miles.
Alcock Tarn is a bit like an infinity pool. You can see Windermere beyond.
Look beyond my shadow. Do you see the many little fishes?

On Fairfield between Heron Pike and Great Rigg (2200ft) beyond.
Alcock Tarn on the left, Grasmere in the middle and a glimpse first of Elterwater and then of Coniston in the distance
On Stone Arthur before the descent.
