22nd Oct 05 - Silver Howe

What was expected to be a very wet day turned out just overcast. We started at Grasmere and climbed Lang Howe and Silver Howe before a glorious ridge walk with wonderful views of Elterwater, Windermere, the Langdales and, of course, Grasmere.  About 5 miles/1300ft.

From Allen Bank. William Wordsworth's home until 1808.
As we climbed, this was the view backwards over Grasmere village
Lang Howe tarn. Every time we have climbed here before we have missed this important turning point
