1st July 04 - Ullswater

After yesterday was rained off, we decided on an 'AwayDay'. A 45 minute drive to Pooley Bridge at the far end of Ullswater for a 6-miler starting along the shoreline.
Then a climb up to the ridge with its fantastic views of Ullswater and Helvelyn beyond. Turn left at the Stone Circle to make your way back to the ferry landing stage at Pooley Bridge.
It rained heavily once but quickly cleared. We would do in opposite direction next time as the views would be better.

Boat jetty at Pooley Bridge on a moody Ullswater
We met this duck family on the shoreline
Bet this is the first time you have seen creases pressed in walking trousers? As it rained yesterday we went to Ambleside and I bought a new anorak and trousers to match my new boots (see 29th June..) Must be colour coordinated, you know!
Boats a-bobbing on the lake with Helvelyn as a backdrop
Ridge walks don't get much better. Ullswater must be the most beautiful lake in Cumbria. A lot of competition though!
THAT view...
