Another sweltering day. So we took off to the sea. 
First to visit the 13th Century ruins of Furness Abbey (Excellent and immaculately maintained).
Then on for a five mile stroll along the coast at Walney Island (Barrow-in-Furness).
With honesty, this is not the most attractive coastline as the picture shows. But the walk along the river with the massive BAE Systems (was Vickers) shipyards and the Edwardian housing estate built for "the workers"  was very interesting.
