9th Feb 07 - Murad-Janjira

Sailed the 220km to Murud in very calm seas. 

Transferred first by tender... 
Then into the waiting Hodi boats
We visited the old coastal fort of Jazira-Mehruba (Moon Fort)...
...along with a group of Indian school kids.
Getting off the hodi boat and climbing the steep steps to enter the fort
The five storey Janjira Palace built by the Siddis - Abyssinian slavers who had prospered in India
Totally self sufficient - this is the water 'tank' - the 14th C fort has NEVER been captured!
Indeed, this stone engraving of a lion holding six small elephants captive represents the six successive Siddi victories.
The Indians do not have the funds to restore the place
