18th Feb 07 - Galle, Sri Lanka

Very busy and tiring day in the heat of Galle.

Galle was devastated in the Boxing Day tsunami of 2004 and over 42,000 people died. The reconstruction is amazing.

Galle fort as we sailed into the harbour
Mosque and lighthouse
Fortifications
Under the Banyan tree
Galle is a very pleasant, clean and bustling place
I really liked this picture of the courting couple on the ramparts of the fort
Elizabeth liked the two kittens...of course!
Typical laid back Galle shop
Fruit stall
Lighthouse beach
A typical old Ceylonese house in the Wickremasingke Folk Museum
Unawatuna beach where we swam in the Indian Ocean
