1st August 05 - Ammassalik, Greenland

Ammassalik is a small settlement on the east coast of Greenland. No roads anywhere and icebound most of the year - it's boat, sledge or helicopter if you want to go anywhere. They only get a couple of cruise ships each year too!
The entry to the bay is exciting as you are surrounded by icebergs even in August.
We then went on a c4 mile walk along the Valley of the Flowers to a series of lakes and waterfalls.

Seven Seas Navigator in the bay. We went ashore by tender.
The houses in the town were painted in bright colours
We walked through the Valley of Flowers...aptly named!
The town's graveyard could not have been in a more tranquil spot

After the graveyard we made our way along a series of lakes, where the locals were fishing, to the waterfalls.
