Boat moved overnight back up the Danube to Rousse.
Then a day sailing further up the Danube via two big locks including the Iron Gate.

1st June 19 - A day sailing up the Danube

Through the locks at the Iron Gate. Now a major hydroelectric station.

From the banks of the Danube full of depressing, rusting factories we get to these wonderful tree-bedecked gorges

This used to be a pilots station - controlling the shipping through this narrow gorge. Now a convent - although it looked more like an Inn to me!
