27th March 19 - Salay and Bagan

Moored close to village for walk through this town of many temples etc. from 12th & 13th Centuries. Seen better days but would make a good set for an Indiana Jones film.
In afternoon, we visited a Lacquerware Workshop and then the Bagan temple of Ananda

Moored right by the village of Salay
Another new form of transport - a very uncomfortable 'bus' ride!

A Lacquerware Buddha in the Mann Paya Pagoda
Elizabeth in an 'Ever Stand' - the symbol of the region. Looks a bit like Humpty Dumpty to me!
The home of the 'famous' Bagan-era Burmese poet - Salay U Ponya
Novice Buddhist Monks collecting alms house to house. The little girl gave them each a spoonful of rice.
Love this panorama. It really does look like an Indiana Jones film set.
Another lovely Burmese child.
Olde Burmese Tea Shoppe!
