24th March 19 - Pyay and the Shwesandaw Pegoda

Moored on the riverbank overnight.
Then a visit to the Shwesandaw Pagoda in the 100F heat.
Spent afternoon sailing down the Irrawaddy.

You could either climb the stairs or use the elevator. We took the latter!
Buddhist Monk. Each pot was filled with water and the monk had a sip from each in turn.
The huge Buddha dominated the 6 acre site
I was born on a Sunday. So my animal is the mythical garuda
Elizabeth was born on a Thursday. So hers is a MOUSE (Can you believe that?)
You had to pour water THREE times over the Buddha and then the mouse.
Three Burmese ladies asked to have their photo taken with Elizabeth... Nobody asked for a photos with me!
Street kids. Perhaps not so well looked after as the others we saw.
xPaya Gyi Pegoda built in the 6th/7th Century AD. SOLID.
Then an afternoon sailing down the Irrawaddy to Thayetmyo.
