24th May 14 - Klaipeda, Lithuania

Yet another fabulously sunny day. Visited the Old Town of Klaipeda and the seaside resort of Palanga.

Klaipeda Old Town deserted!
Cat and Mouse. Many of the buildings had been torn down and were now being replaced by little squares with sculptures. It is said that if you whisper your wishes to the mouse they will come true...Which, of course, is what everyone then did!
The local Church of St Mary ready for a wedding.
This one specially for Euan. Palanga, just a few miles from Klaipeda, is a seaside town with all the ice cream parlors, amusements and restaurants you would expect on the walk to the beach.
Botanic Park at Palanga
Palanga has a lovely long sandy beach
The area is famous for its amber which is 40-50 million years old. Here with a serpent embedded together with all manner of insects.
