9th June 12 - Kimmeridge

After all the wet weather, today was gloriously sunny and dry. Very windy though. We went to Kimmeridge for a wonderful 6-miler ending with a crab sandwich.

We first climbed Smedmore Hill with these wondrous views of Kimmeridge Bay
Descending to join the SW Coastal Path
The SW Coastal path is 'dressed' in the most colourful wild flowers
The Clavell Tower built in 1831. As it was in danger of falling into the sea, they moved it (all 12,272 stones) a little way inland. You can see the original foundations. Now used as a holiday cottage.
A last wonderful view all the way to Weymouth and Portland. Sorry to go on about it but it is this kind of view, this kind of day, that makes my heart sing!
