6th May 12 - Kotor, Montenegro

ANOTHER gloriously sunny day. Sailed into the Bay of Kotor at 6.00am. It is the deepest and biggest fjord in Southern Europe.

Then on a trip up (and up and up) around 25 hairpin bends to Cetinje. We apparently followed the route used by George Bernard Shaw who said "I hear that the road to Cetinje via Kotor is one of the most beautiful in the world and that is why I have come". You can judge for yourself if that was true!

View from our balcony at 6.30am
And at 8.00am when we had docked alongside the old city of Kotor
This was taken from the coach (never a wise move - but this one worked)
As we climbed to 3000ft around 25 hairpin bends. You had to close your eyes as we negotiated our way around traffic with tyres mere inches from sheer drops. Also not for those who feel sick on coaches.
But the views from the top made it (almost) worth the ordeal!
The old town of Kotor is delightful
When we saw this, we both said 'Melissa'! She would have loved it. Full of backpackers. Anyway, the photo incorporated some washing too, so 'two birds...'.
Church with the fantastic fort on the hilltop beyond
Finally a balcony to complete the usual set of pictures.
