10th Nov 11 - Nauplia, Greece for Corinth

Another fabulous sunny day. I think it is getting warmer everyday as we go North - it is meant to be the opposite. This morning we awoke in the bay at Nauplia. Tendered ashore for trip to Corinth and the canal.

Views from the ship anchored in the bay. The old fort is built along the crest of the hills overlooking the harbour.
The old city of Corinth with its Temple to Apollo. Famous for St Paul and his 'Letter to the Corinthians' and that bit about 'Love' used at every Wedding!
These pictures of the start of the Corinth Canal might look the same. But this is the first road bridge I have ever encountered that 'sinks' to allow ships to pass.
The Corinth Canal was completed in 1893 to link the Ionian and Aegean Seas.
Criss-crossed by many bridges
So, that's it. Home tomorrow from Athens. Great trip. After the experiences of the last cruise, I am glad that my enjoyment of this type of holiday has been restored. The destinations in the Med take some beating. As will the Silver Wind - its staff and fellow guests.
