13th Feb 10 - Loughrigg Fell

Not the best of journeys up (cat went AWOL and M6 was a nightmare). But today it was cold and sunny. Perfect walking weather.

We did Loughrigg Fell/Grasmere and Rydal Water. But we started from Pelter Bridge on a 'new' route up the fell - which was excellent. Strange how, after so many years, one can approach an old walk in a new way!

Stepping Stones across the River Rothay
Across the valley as we climbed Loughrigg Fell
Atop Loughrigg Fell overlooking Windermere (we couldn't spot Joe's body anywhere....)
On the path down to the Tarn with the Langdale Pikes in the background

 Grasmere
Glorious view of the valley over Grasmere (great zoom - see unzoomed picture above)
Nab Cottage across Rydal Water (another zoom)
The heron came to share our lunch. As you can see I am quite pleased with the 12x optical zoom on my new Panasonic camera!
