13th June 09 - Blackwell and Holehird

We decided to have a day off walking and visited Blackwell and Holehird gardens instead

Blackwell is a 'Arts and Crafts' house built around 100 years ago as the 'holiday home' for a rich brewer, Edward Holt, from Manchester.
It has the most wonderful views over Windermere. A new art installation has been erected in the garden.
Holehird Gardens also overlook Windermere
The herbaceous borders are at their best at this time of year.
